This day-long event is free to the public and will educate and engage adults and children alike with first-hand experience of English forces living in the Province of Maine in the mid-eighteenth century. Michael Dekker, author of The French and Indian Wars in Maine, along with fellow reenactors, will demonstrate the equipment, apparel, and maneuvers used by the scouting outfits who defended early English settlements in Maine. The event will focus on the French and Indian Wars in historic Falmouth (now called Portland), and the impact the conflicts had on the harvesting of mast trees. Come learn more about the world the Tate family was entering when they first arrived in the tumultuous Province of Maine.
